Keepers of the Gate began in late 2022 with Evelyn M. Lewis’s new imprint. Believing that her debut novel was “too Christian for HarperCollins but too edgy for Thomas Nelson”, she aimed to start her own imprint that would give Christian authors the creative freedom they need to tell the best possible stories. Keepers of the Gate is interested in publishing stories that come from a Christian worldview. We love unashamedly Christian content in genre fiction, but also fiction by Christian authors that is not necessarily religious in content but simply unwilling to bend to performative cultural demands.
Keepers of the Gate is not a traditional publisher, but a community. We have a discord server where we discuss fiction and the writer’s life and work to improve our craft.
By generous donations from group members we have our ISBN’s and can offer low-cost publishing. However, this is not free like a traditional publisher since Keepers of the Gate does not collect money from book sales. We also do not provide editing services. Rather, association with us is about branding and networking in order to gain better support and exposure for indie authors.
In order to gain a reputation for quality books we wish to only publish books with high quality edited content to professional standards. The books we publish have to go through a review process with our volunteer review board.
Right now we would be interested in seeing books about close platonic relationships between people of the same sex as well as idealistic romance, and books portraying family relationships and childhood innocence in a positive light. If your book is about the value of human life or redemption by the power of unearned love we are interested.
Keep in mind that at this time that this is virtually the same as self-publishing except for the affiliation and that if you want the benefits of the association you are advised to join the server where you may also find other Christian professionals who can help with other aspects of your book.
